Book Review: Along Came a Spider

Along came a spider is the first book in the Alex Cross series by James Patterson.

Alex Cross is a detective and psychologist who investigates homicides. The decision is made that he and his partner are put onto the kidnapping case of two children of highly important public figures.

The kidnapper is Gary Soneji, a vicious serial killer who wants to keep out doing his last crime. He is a master of disguises and seems to fool everyone around him. Well apart from Alex Cross maybe.

I was a bit worried that Alex having a relationship suddenly start would over shadow the case but it didn’t and you will realise it was necessary if you read the book.

It is a fantastic start to a series and I can’t wait to read more thoughts from Alex Cross.

For the massive twist at the end I never saw coming and I won’t ruin it for anyone who hasn’t read it I give it 5/5

Happy Birthday Redheadedstitcher

Yes it was a year ago today that I decided to start a blog. I had no idea what I was doing but knew it would be a great way to share my crafting creations.

I didn’t know the journey it would take me on but so glad it has as I have discovered many fantastic blogs and found all sorts of things I like to blog about. It also gave me the idea to create my first ever YouTube video!

So for all of you who are my followers I want to take the opportunity to say thank you as none of this would be possible without each and every one of you.

Until my next update… Thank you guys!

Book review: City of Bones

City of Bones is the first book in the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.

We are introduced first to Clary Fray, a teenager who lives with her widowed mother. She goes to a nightclub with her best friend Simon and she witnesses something no one else can see. She sees shadowhunters take out a demon. Trying to understand what she has seen, Clary tries to discuss it with Simon but gets nowhere as he didn’t see them.

After an argument with her mother, Clary sees one of the Shadowhunters, Jace, again but before she can get any real answers a phone call from her upset mother makes her dash back to their apartment only to find her gone and a ravener demon lying in wait for her.

It took me a little while to get into the book as I found the shadowhunters slightly boring and obvious characteristics. Isabelle being a tall pretty girl who seems to be perfect at everything apart from cooking I found the most irritating.

Considering the building relationship between Jace and Clary that builds from their first meeting is one you feel want to happen as both have had a lot of drama to deal with in their lives. To find they are related I found wrong as obviously they could not have a girlfriend boyfriend relationship and it would have worked better if they annoyed each other all the way through.

As I had picked this series to try as I was trying to find something fantasy that wasn’t all vampire it didn’t disappoint. Yes there are vampires but also werewolves, demons, warlocks and faeries.

I will be reading the other books in the series and I am curious about the infernal devices trilogy and the Bane chronicles.

A good read but the Clary and Jace thing really peeved me so I give it 3/5
